If you're only reading the articles in the newsletters, then you're missing a major portion of the news and information that's available. Most or all of the articles in the newsletters are incomplete on paper, but are completed electronically on the website. Also, if you're reading the entirety of the articles by going to the website, but haven't created an account or don't login regularly, then you're missing even more content that is only available to members of the Troop website.

At 6:15 PM on the 23rd of August, our Troop will have a Court of Honor (COH) with an open house. The COH is a time to recognize those boys who have achieved various rank advancements, merit badges or other awards. All boys are encouraged to invite their entire family and extended family to celebrate this occasion with them.

Reflections of Camp Geronimo 2007

Camp Geronimo was one of the funnest camps I have ever been to. As usual we won “Big 'G' Gold” (the highest award in the camp), earned lots of merit badges and bought dozens of root beer floats. The first two days are the best, because you don't have to do anything but set up camp. The next five days are fun as well, you earn four of thirty or so merit badges, then during free time you get to do what ever you want (go to the trading post, shoot rifles, etc.). And one day during free time an entire troop is allowed to go to the horse coral or climbing tower (that is my favorite day).

The next big thing

The next major event after the Court of Honor is one of our most popular campouts: mountain biking and camping at Brian Head. If you want to go, you need to sign up as soon as possible (permission slips are due in by August 16th) so that the event leaders can get an accurate head count and get you information you need in order to be prepared. Here are the details as they stand now.

Help wanted

Troop 256 needs your talents and abilities. There are several positions open that need someone who can spend just an hour or two a week taking care of them. Although there are other positions available, currently the two main positions that need to be filled are Permission Slip Coordinator and Fund Raising Chairperson. In addition to the longer term positions, there are various other short-term tasks that need people to help out with (like the planning and coordinating of a Troop campout).
