One of the biggest mining booms in Nevada history occurred near here, in the El Dorado Canyon. Gold & silver were discovered here around 1859. Later, copper & lead were discovered and mined here.

The latitude and longitude of Nelson is 35.708N & -114.823W, and its elevation is 2,976 feet.
