Fishing at Navajo Lake

The May fishing trip to Eagle Valley that was moved to June at Duck Creek has once again been changed to Navajo Lake, in favor of better summer temperatures, and, hopefully, better fishing.

ATTENTION: WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO DRIVE, AS THERE ARE NO VANS AVAILABLE FOR THIS OUTING.

In conjunction with this outing, Mr. Jarvis will be teaching the fishing merit badge at the meetings. All who can help will be needed to assist him teaching the various skills required.

In order to fish at Navajo Lake, a Utah State fishing license is required for everyone who is 14 years of age and older. The cost of license is $12.00 and may be purchased online at Utah.gov or at June Scout meetings.

The date and time of departure is 6:00 PM, Friday, June 29th from Dick's Sporting Goods parking lot at the Galleria Mall. We will return back to Dick's parking lot at 4:00 PM, Sunday, July 1.

We will be camping at nearby Deer Valley, and all patrols will be responsible for planning their own menus, including shopping for the food and cooking it as a patrol. The meals needed for the trip are 2 breakfasts, 2 cold lunches and 1 dinner. You will also need to plan on having 2 liters of water per day per person. Please see Mr. Jarvis or Mr. Wickham for cooking equipment and Patrol Boxes.

The planned events are fishing with prizes on Saturday, a campfire program with patrol skits & songs Saturday night and a nature walk on Sunday morning (after breakfast and breaking camp).

The cost of the outing will be $10.00 in addition to any license fees.

Field Trip permission slips, outing fliers and supply lists will be handed out at the meetings.

If you need camping equipment, the Troop has some for loan. See Mr. Jarvis for a waiver and to request the equipment.
