Highlights from the backpacking trip last week:

- Started at the Painter’s union hall, every backpacker went to an inspection of their bags and gosh----some of those boys really got some pounds. We were able to unload them and repack with lighter back packs

- For most of the Scouts that went last week (Hawk and Volcano patrols) this trip was their first backpacking experience (some were really tired…almost dead as George Miller says all the time)

- 12 Scouts and 4 adults attended

- Total miles hiked round trip 7.34 with an elevation gain of 500 feet

- Temperature was great a little warm during the day, but nice in the shade

- Some boys ran out of water and one had no food for the backpacking trip at all (Ray C) After all he was the one that ate the best b/c everyone gave him a taste of their food

- Boys played poker for a couple of hours (George and Abraham won most of the snacks from the other boys)

- Boys played capture the flag (Michael Hardy, Joseph and Dan Harty had a great time too)

- Boys worked on the Geology merit badge with Mr. Sanchez and we all learned a lot about the different types of rocks and the formations around that area

- The following Scouts attended: Abraham Corral, Robert Binfield, Ray Cadena, Cramer Flatt, Joseph Flatt, Travis Flatt, Dan Harty, Michael Harty, George Miller, Cameron Sanchez, Mike Adair and Alex Sigmon

- The following Adults attended: Alex Sanchez, Mike Harty, Greg Miller and Alejandro Corral
